If You've Never Been Able to Meditate (Like Me)

It seems like so many high performing people start their day out with meditation...Oprah, Jerry Seinfeld, Jennifer Aniston, Madonna, Kobe Bryant (just to name a few).

The concept is to do nothing, let thoughts come and then go, focus on your breathing. I have to say that I've tried, I really have. I just haven't found that place to put me in a better mood. It actually feels sort of bleak to me when I try to take my mind to a place of nothingness. I want to be stimulated and drawn to positive feelings, not to silence and an empty expanse. If you've been able to master meditation and it works for you, that's awesome, I'd love to hear how it makes you feel! For myself, I've actually found something a little different that I want to share - and I know there are more of you out there that will be drawn to it.

It's called the Meditative Story podcast. Instead of clearing your mind to silence, you can listen to people from all walks of life take you through experiences in a truly beautiful way. I was searching for a new podcast to listen to a few weeks ago and I'm so glad I stumbled upon it. The first one I listened to was "Our tiny meaningful lives in the vast universe," lead by astronomer Michelle Thaller. She takes you with her to a large telescope aiming up at the clear night sky. She takes your thoughts through the amazing way that every cell in our body came from atoms from an exploding star. The story is accompanied with this beautiful orchestral music. It inspires and energizes me!

Check this and other episodes out and let me know what you think. I'd also love to hear more unique ways of meditation that you've found.
